Our parish
The map below shows the parish of Chippenham. We are a place-based charity and our remit is to provide grants to people who live inside the parish boundary. We are only able to help people inside the thick border line as seen in the below map.
Our land and property
We own a 70-acre country park with grassland and river habitats together with various properties in Chippenham. If you click on the yellow markers in the map below you can see more some detail on our land and property.
Westmead Open Space
Westmead Open Space
The Charity’s land to the west of Pewsham Way known as Westmead Open Space has received a lot of attention over the last few years. Thousands of new trees were planted with help from Chippenham residents, schools and other organisations and these are beginning to take hold. To help those with reduced mobility, there are now substantial pathways from the much improved and better signposted Car Park. Finally, the new owl statue, courtesy of Lackham College, welcomes the many visitors who take advantage of this great facility. We are hoping that our thriving partnership with Lackham College will allow us to make even more enhancements to make Westmead Open Space even better. Have you any suggestions? Please let us know.
The Jubilee Building
Jubilee Building
The Jubilee Building is a Grade II Listed Building in the centre of Chippenham. When it first opened it was used as a Literacy and Science Institute. It is now home to our offices and meeting rooms. Downstairs from our offices we have two rooms for hire at an affordable cost, for use by local community groups. Are you looking for an affordable space for your organisation/group to meet? Mortimores Wood
Mortimore’s Wood
Mortimore’s Wood lies just one mile from the centre of the busy town of Chippenham, providing a haven of tranquillity from the bustle of modern life. It is a small area of Ancient woodland with a recorded history extending back over 800 years and it houses a diversity of plant and bird life only found in such old woodlands. Mortimore’s Wood is both a designated County Wildlife Site and Local Nature Reserve. The wood is owned by us but managed by the Mortimore’s Wood Volunteers. The Trustees are continually grateful to each of the volunteers and the group for their efforts in helping to maintain the Borough Lands. For more information on Mortimore’s Wood and how to get in contact with their volunteers visit www.mortimores.org.uk
Baydon's Meadow
Baydon’s Meadow
Baydon’s Meadow is a field beside the river Avon; just a few minutes walk from the centre of Chippenham in Wiltshire. The river and the cycle path, make it an idyllic and relaxing spot. It is also provides a pleasant alternative route between the London Road area, the town and Monkton Park. We own the land at Baydon’s Meadow but volunteers, who want it to become a hay meadow, full of wildflowers with butterflies and other creatures, manage it. Look out for the information board close to the bridge, depicting the meadow and many of the species that may be seen, together with information about the site. Leading from the cycle path to the board is a path made of bricks, on which are designs by local children and the volunteers. The Trustees are continually grateful to each of the volunteers and the group for their efforts in helping to maintain the Borough Lands. For more information on Baydon’s Meadow and how to get in contact with their volunteers visit www.baydonsmeadow.org.uk/
