This grant supported eight vulnerable young people from Chippenham to attend Forest Camp, a six-day residential in the Forest of Dean in August 2024. Forest Camp is the final part of the Youth Adventure Programme – a long-term early intervention scheme designed to help young people build resilience, confidence, and life skills through outdoor adventure.
Participants of the camp typically face significant challenges, including poverty, poor mental health, social isolation, and low aspirations. Many have never experienced nature-based activities like hiking, canoeing, or camping before the programme. Forest Camp offers a transformative opportunity to challenge themselves in a safe, supportive environment.
The programme delivers wide-ranging impact, helping young people improve mental and physical health, develop self-esteem, enhance educational performance, and increase their future employability. It goes beyond short-term services, providing lasting change for those most at risk of poor outcomes.
Thank you so much for your continued support of our work and the support you show disadvantaged young people from Chippenham on the Youth Adventure Programme. As charities juggle a triple threat of rising demand, escalating costs and falling funding, your support is even more vital and we so appreciate it.
