Awarded in March 2025, this grant supports Chippenham Hospital Radio in purchasing a new mixing desk to enhance their outside broadcast capability.
Chippenham Hospital Radio provides music, news, sport, local information, and health promotion to around 7,000 patients per month at the town’s hospital, as well as staff, visitors, and the wider community through online streaming.
The new mixer will enable the station to take its broadcasts out into the community, supporting local events such as the Chippenham Half Marathon and the town’s Christmas event. These events bring residents together and promote community cohesion.
Research highlights the positive impact of music on mental health, including increased dopamine release and feelings of wellbeing. This project will help improve mental health, encourage creativity, and foster community participation. As the only local radio station in the town, Chippenham Hospital Radio plays a vital role in connecting residents, patients, and local musicians. The new equipment will ensure high-quality broadcasts from local events, supporting their mission of being a voice for the community.
