We are delighted to be working in partnership with Age UK Wiltshire to launch this essential new service for older people living in the Chippenham area. We are providing funding for the set up and running costs for the first year of the service, which will be an extension of Age UK Wiltshire’s already successful Swindon-based operation. The service provides a daily hot two meal to older local people who may be isolated or living alone.
With many older people having to self-isolate as a result of the Coronavirus epidemic, we need to be mindful of their support needs now more than ever. As well as providing a healthy balanced meal, essential to prevent malnutrition setting in, the Community Hot Meals service can also offer a reassuring daily welfare check for older people in these anxious times and give them access to the other support services of Age UK Wiltshire if needed.
The service can deliver a daily hot meal to an older person for just £6.50 a day. If you are interested or know someone who may be, please call the Age UK Wiltshire team on 01380 727767 or email communitymeals@ageukwiltshire.org.uk for more details.
Age UK Wiltshire provides support and services to older people living in Swindon and Wiltshire. It operates under the Age UK brand but is independent, local and self-funding. Its services are provided by a small team of paid staff and an army of dedicated volunteers.
