The Arc Park
The Arc Park is a bespoke, wooden play area on our land at Westmead Playing Field, right next to The Arc climbing centre and skatepark. It opened in February 2023 and is a free-to-access outdoor space designed to encourage active, imaginative play for local children and families.
TouchWood Play, award-winning natural playground specialists, were commissioned to bring our vision to life. Their design makes creative use of sustainably sourced timber and integrates seamlessly into the park’s open green space. The layout was specially tailored to fit the triangular site and enhance the connection with The Arc climbing centre, cafe and skate park.
A highlight of the design is the play bridge linking the café deck directly to the Wildwood Tree House, creating a playful and accessible route between social and play spaces.
What You’ll Find in The Arc Park
The park features a diverse mix of play structures and natural elements, including:
Wildwood Tree House with café deck access.
Sand Tower with pulley and slide.
Hollow Log and Play Hut for imaginative play.
Climbing nets, balancing logs, and two slides.
Natural seating and open space for families to gather.
Designed for children aged 2 to 12+, the park encourages both independent discovery and social play, all in a safe, natural setting.
Background
As the landowner and funder, CBLC created The Arc Park as part of our charitable commitment to improving quality of life in Chippenham. Since its opening, the park has been used by many local children, families and visitors, with many staying for over an hour to enjoy the space.
We’re proud to see it being used just as we hoped: as a fun and engaging place encouraging outdoor play, social interaction, and connection with the natural environment.
