Tree Sculpture Competition & trail update

In March last year Lady Lansdowne unveiled our beautiful wooden owl sculpture on our land at Westmead Open Space. The sculpture was made by Ollie Adams, an extremely talented local sculptor who works as a Gardener for Wiltshire College and University Centre. The Owl was created to celebrate a new partnership between our organisations.

Ollie kindly agreed to make more sculptures and you may remember we launched a Tree Sculpture Competition for local Primary aged children in Chippenham. We had lots of incredible entries from children across Chippenham and a winner was selected from every school, winning £25 book vouchers and the chance to have their designs made into sculptures by Ollie. There was also an overall winner who also won £500 to spend on buying books for their school. Whilst we were able to give out the monetary prizes in July 2019 we knew it would take up to a year for the sculptures to be made and the Tree Sculpture trail to be opened.

We have been working towards a May opening but given the current global situation, that is obviously on hold. We thought you might like to see a glimpse of the wonderful work that Ollie has already done by way of these progress photos…

A huge thank you for the wonderful work that you have already done on this Ollie – we can’t wait to see all the completed sculptures at Westmead Open Space in the hopefully not too distant future…
